Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and the yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the melted butter and vanilla extract to the activated yeast mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Slowly add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Don’t overmix; you want a soft dough.
- Gently fold in the pearl sugar until evenly distributed.
- Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until doubled in size.
Cooking
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Scoop the desired amount of dough onto your preheated waffle iron (about 1/2 cup per waffle) and cook until golden brown, usually about 3-5 minutes.
- Remove the waffles carefully and serve warm with your preferred toppings.
Notes
Store leftover waffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze them for up to one month. Reheat in a toaster or in an oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
